Universal freight terminal SIA Noord Natie Ventspils Terminal (NNVT) continues successfully operating under conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic. The company actively works with domestic producers and carries local export freights. Recently the terminal established successful cooperation with Ventspils-based manufacturer of prefabricated modular structures SIA Forta PRO.
The first shipment of modular structures – 42 units in total – was shipped to Sweden at the start of October. It is expected the next ship will leave Ventspils for Sweden next month, as confirmed by NNVT CEO Jānis Pauls.
He says work continues on carrying local export goods – lumber, wood granules, bran pellets, wood chips, colza pellets, cereals, dolomite, maize, container loads and other goods. Similarly to previous years, Ro-Ro freights take up the majority of freights handled by Noord Natie Ventspils Terminal. Volumes continue increasing now that two new Stena Line ferries have been added to Ventspils-Sweden route.
Technical capabilities and experience processing heavy and bulky cargo handling are some of NNVT’s top advantages. Noord Natie Ventsils Terminal is the only one at the sea port of Ventsils that specializes in handling this kind of freight.
The company commenced development of this business direction several years ago. The terminal’s capabilities in handling bulky freights continues increasing.
Thanks to the company’s active attraction of partners, high level services provided by NNVT, use of modern ferries to transport bulky freights, as well as available infrastructure and innovative approach in handling large and bulky freights, NNVT remains one of the most successful companies active at the sea port of Ventspils during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jānis Pauls stresses that the company currently works to support the domestic market. NNVT is grateful for the good cooperation it has with domestic producers in Latvia.
Nevertheless, when working on the domestic market, the money from goods and services moves from one pocket of the country into another, and the economy is enriched with money earned in Latvia.
«Development of the transit sector and cooperation with businesses of other countries is vital on a national level. This way we will not only contribute to the sector’s growth, create new jobs and enrich the state budget with our taxes, but also attract foreign investments. And this is completely different added value transit sector’s businesses can give their country. We hope the government can understand this elementary equation,» says Jānis Pauls.
